Altogether 244 taxa of bryophytes (51 liverworts and 193 mosses) were recorded during excursions in the Poľana Mts Protected Landscape Area. Among the recorded taxa, two are reported for the first time from Slovakia (Schistidium lancifolium and Thamnobryum neckeroides), one is considered Critically Endangered (Campylostelium saxicola), two Endangered (Hamatocaulis vernicosus, Meesia triquetra), seven Vulnerable (Anomodon rugelii, Blindia acuta, Gymnocolea inflata, Jungermannia pumila, Polytrichum pallidisetum, Tortula muralis var. obtusifolia, Tritomaria exsectiformis), eleven Near Threatened (Anastrepta orcadensis, Buxbaumia viridis, Calliergon giganteum, Dicranum bonjeanii, Lewinskya striata, Mnium lycopodioides, Pseudotaxiphyllum elegans, Ptychostomum weigelii, Racomitrium affine, R. microcarpon, Ulota bruchii) and three Data Deficient (Pohlia camptotrachela, P. lutescens, Syntrichia calcicola). We also provide clarifying comments on taxa not reported in the current checklist of Slovak mosses but occurring in the country (Conocephalum salebrosum, Lophozia silvicola, Campylium protensum, Hedwigia emodica, Lewinskya fastigiata, Sciuro-hypnum curtum, Ulota intermedia).
