Distribution of net-leaved willow (Salix reticulata) in Slovakia

The article provides comprehensive information on the distribution of the arctic-alpine species Salix reticulata in Slovakia. Both published and unpublished distribution records of net-leaved willow, as well as herbarium specimens were examined. In the Slovak part of the Western Carpathians, Salix reticulata occurs mainly in the Tatra Mts, especially in the Belianske Tatry Mts, less frequently in the Západné Tatry Mts and Vysoké Tatry Mts.

Outside the Tatra Mts, it is rarely found in the Krivánska Malá Fatra Mts, and a few isolated localities are known from the Chočské vrchy Mts (Mt. Choč) and Nízke Tatry Mts (Mt. Krakova hoľa). Net-leaved willow usually grows in the subalpine to alpine belt, mainly on calcareous bedrock. Based on the available information, it is considered to be a glacial relict.
