Abstrakt

Besides indigenous wild species ancient iris cultivars of the group of hybrids Iris variegata × pallida (I. ×sambucina, I. ×squalens and I. ×flavescens) and I. ×germanica have been grown in culture in the Czech Republic since historic times. In some places under anthropic influence they persist at natural locations for a very long time. They belong to the cultural inheritance of mankind and they are part of the cultural countryside, but nowadays they are disappearing very fast. Their identification and differentiation from modern varieties both in the field and in herbariums is problematic and therefore we can find a range of inaccurate data in the literature.
