A totalof 292 herbarium specimens of the genusPunctelia from the Czech Republic were revised. Three species were identified: P. borreri, P. jeckeri, and P. subrudecta. There was no evidence of P. borreri before the year 2016, which supportsour hypothesis that theexpansion of its distribution area is connected to global climate change. Nevertheless, the speciesis still rare in the country, so far known from several localities in the western part of Bohemia. Punctelia jeckeri and P. subrudecta are both widespread in the country and have very similar ecological preferences. However, in the studied material they differed in number of records, with a higher abundance of P. jeckeri (69.9% of all specimens). Punctelia subrudecta seems to be slightly more thermophilic and prefers bark of oaks, while the ecological requirements of P. jeckeri are slightly broader. We provide a key to the identification of all European species of Punctelia.
