The occurrence of Xanthoparmelia verrucigera, reported from the Czech Republic from a single locality near Prague, has been questioned. The specimen reported by Suza (1940) has not been found in herbaria, and therefore the most reliable and necessary method for differentiation from the closely related X. conspersa – TLC for detection of norstictic acid, present only in the medulla of the latter taxon, could not have been performed. The presence of X. verrucigera at the locality was not confirmed in 2002.
