Verification of historical sites of Anacamptis morio as part of the Plant of the Year 2021 campaign

Anacamptis morio is a critically endangered species in the Czech Republic. In 2021 it was selected as the very first species of the Czech Botanical Society’s Plant of the Year campaign. As part of the campaign, a call was launched to verify former localities of this orchid. Based on the Species Occurrence Database analysis, 122 localities with their last record from 1980–2010 were selected. A total of 24 people took part in the verification and visited 54 sites (44 %). Anacamptis morio was confirmed at only 11 sites.
