The second part of a revision of the genus Symphytum in the Czech Republic deals with Symphytum officinale agg. In our flora, this complex is represented by two native species: S. officinale s.str. and S. bohemicum.
Symphytum officinale occurs throughout the Czech Republic and grows from the lowlands to the mountains. It is the most common and widespread species of the genus Symphytum. In contrast, S. bohemicum is classified as endangered and is confined to east, central and north Bohemia (especially to the river basins of the Labe, Ohře, Metuje and Cidlina). An overview of morphological characters, habitat preferences and distribution maps are provided for both taxa.
