Diversity of European urban plant communities

Patterns and factors affecting biodiversity of urban habitats are reviewed and put into context of recent research topics in urban ecology in general. During the past decades the research has focused on patterns of urban biodiversity, the structure of urban flora, factors driving urban biodiversity, effects of alien species on the biotic homogenization of urban floras, temporal changes, and finally on the functional and phylogenetic structure of urban floras.
