The article is devoted to the purely known plant-collector Matúš Beňa, who was the school director in village of Suchov in the White Carpathian Mts. (Czech Republic, Moravian-Slovak borderline). At the begining of this century, Matúš Beňa collected bryophytes in the area of the White Carpathian Mts. His findings were revised and published by J.Podpěra (1908). Bena’s findings belong to the most important bryological data from this area.
