In the last decades, the number of localities of the acidophilous moss Dicranum tauricum has increased considerably throughout Europe, but only a few reports have been known from Slovakia. The present paper summarizes the available literature and herbarium entries on its distribution in Slovakia and presents notes on ecology and substrate and habitat preferences. Our field research was focused mainly on the western part of Slovakia, where records of D. tauricum were missing. In Slovakia, D. tauricum grows in slightly moist to dry sites, primarily in deciduous forests of the colline belt. As a substrate it prefers decayed wood and the bases of tree trunks; only rarely it occurs on stones. |
